On Tuesday 10 November 19:00-20:00 CET, programme maker and presenter Thijs Bonger continues his investigation of the life and work of Johann Nepomuk Hummel (1778-1837).
It is 1810 and Hummel is still responsible for the religious music in the gigantic Esterhazy palace (see photo). But he is ambitious and at the same time he is still writing his own compostions.
In this programme you can listen to two series of variations on popular music of the periods. One for cello and piano and the other for solo piano. The programme also includes some of an unusual mass written without parts for soloists.
