As in previous years, the Concertzender was again present at the Festival of Early Music 2014 that took place in Utrecht from 29 August to 7 September. Our recordings from the festival will be broadcast later in the year.
Well-known names and surprising newcomers
Music associated with the Habsburg dynasty in all its variety could be heard in the newly-opened TivoliVredenburg and many of the churches in the centre of Utrecht. Utrecht was again the centre of the Early Music world during the festival with concerts from well-known names (The Tallis Scholars, Concerto Palatino, Huelgas Ensemble and L'Arpeggiata) as well as some surprising newcomers (Cappella Mariana, Catalina Vicens and Tiburtina).
The Concertzender made recordings of more than 30 of these concerts, including the Fabulous Fringeconcerten. The staff from our Early Music department were also at many of the concerts and you can read their reviews in our Early Music Blog.
Our recordings will be broadcast later in the year.
