Karim Baggili is the guest in our studio in the Conclusion building in Utrecht for Acoustic Roots on Friday 4 April (21:00-22:00). Karim Baggili is a self-taught composer, guitarist and ud-player of Jordanian-Yugoslavian descent and was born in Brussels in 1976. He started studying the flamenco guitar when he was 20 after hearing Paco de Lucia play.
During a trip through Jordan Karim Baggili also acquired an Arabian lute (ud). And he started to write theatre and film music as well. He has developed an entirely personal style of composing and playing, whereby he alternates between flamenco and Arabic music.
In Acoustic Roots he will be playing music from his earlier albums Douar and Cuatro con Cuatro as well as from his most recent and well-received CD. Kali City.
