Breathtaking travels
Recently Parne Gadje brought out a new CD: ‘Po Drom’ ('On the road'). On this CD they take us on a breathtaking journey around the Black Sea. The group's music originates from Afghanistan, Macedonia, Greece, Hungary and Anatolia and has tight rhythms, transcendental grooves en eastern scales. It sometimes sounds a bit like the Bosphorus blues.
As you listen to the groove and drive of the bicycle tyre bass, the incantations of the Turkish pipes and the velofoon and the raw heartfelt singing of Marc Constandse you can forget winter in the Netherlands for a while.
Parne Gadje consists of:
- Marc Constandse – bandoneon, vocal and percussion
- Gerwil Kusters – clarinets, saxofones
- Michiel Hollanders – resonator guitar, velofoon and various stringed instruments
- Dan Tuffy – bicycle tyre bass, electric and acoustic guitars
