Live performance by Trio Snijders/Os/Lotz.
In this episode of Acoustic Roots we listen to Trio Snijders/Os/Lotz. This recording was made on June 10, in the Kargadoor in Utrecht.
The trio consists of:
– Marieke Snijders, vocals, piano
– Marco Van Os, contrabass
– Mark Alban Lotz, various flutes, bansuri
and is also called M-M-M.
The music of this trio is a blend of pop, jazz and country, and the musicians have an exciting dialogue with each other within these music styles. The combination of flutes from Marc Alban Lotz and the voice of Marieke Snijders create a special atmosphere. They play their own repertoire alongside compositions of John Dowland, Sara Siskind, Dolly Parton, Michael Moore and others.
Flute virtuoso Marc Alban Lotz was nominated for the Edison and Beyond Magazine award.
He has released 16 CDs with Dutch, Turkish, French, German and American labels, and he has worked together with many musicians, like Chris Potter, Don Byson, Conjunto Folklorico National de Cuba, Han Bennink, Zuco 103 and Wouter Hamel.
Contrabassist Marco van Os has worked on various projects, with bands like People You Know, Raj Mohan, Wieke Garcia, etc. He released his debut CD in 2014, together with pianist Jeroen van Helsdingen.
Singer/pianist Marieke Snijders has worked with modern theatre gezelschappen, like Orkater and Affiliate. Marieke has played with different formations on the North Sea Jazz Festival, for example with the Metropole Orchestra.
