Concerts from around the country, recorded by Concertzender
Live recordings of concerts of early music. Today, two new recordings made in this year, 2020! The concerts: ‘Duizendjarig zingen’ (a thousand years of singing) by Ensemble Hermes conducted by Jeroen Spitteler, and the opening concert ‘Den Bosch Choirbooks’ (graduals) by Cappella Pratensis.
A) Ensemble Hermes: Duizendjarig zingen
The singers of Ensemble Hermes conducted by Jeroen Spitteler let us hear what Hildegard von Bingen, medieval composer and mystic, Orlando di Lasso, the master of late polyphony, and the present-day American composer David Lang have in common.
What they have in common is an uninterrupted tradition of refined voices, ingeniously brought together, and connected by an ancient and ingrained longing to sing together.
Further, we hear the premiere of the latest work of the artistic director, Jeroen Spitteler: Threni, a composition based on the Lamentations of Jeremiah, and in the tradition of Lamentations of many composers before him.

On Wednesday 4 March 2020, was the start of a grand five-year project (2020-2024) which opens up completely the choir books (graduals) of Den Bosch to the audience, in sounds and pictures.
The Illustre Lieve Vrouwe Broederschap (Illustrious Brotherhood of Our Blessed Lady) in ‘s Hertogenbosch houses an incredible treasure: a collection of perfect graduals from the period of 1450 to 1600, nine of which with wonderful many-voiced (polyphone) music.
In the concert we hear a selection of work from the gradual which is treated in 2020 (154/72B), and a random selection from the entire collection.
