Folk magazine about the present and the past, from freak folk to minstrels.
This episode features the release of the CD ‘Tis nihtias ke tis armiras’ by Manos Mountakis and guitarist Manolis Androulidakis. Manos Mountakis is Kostas Mountakis’ son, you will hear both in this broadcast. Father and son became mostly known for their performances of Cretan music. Father Kostas (1926-1991) mostly played instruments that are frequently used in traditional Cretan music: the lyra and the laouto. In addition, son Manos uses other instruments such as acoustic guitar, recorder and percussive instruments. We will also address other performers of Cretan music. They also search boundaries by using influences from outside of Crete (Ross Daly) or by using different instruments (Petros Saridakis).
