The baroque spirit in all its musical shapes.
Christmas cantatas by Friedrich Wilhelm Zachow, teacher of Georg Friedrich Händel. In a Dutch performance by Accademia Amsterdam and Capella Frisiae conducted by Ludger Rémy.
Zachow was an important composer of keyboard music and church cantatas, but at present he is almost exclusively named as the teacher of Georg Friedrich Händel.
A substantial part of the Zachow-catalogue is lost and the remaining works aren’t always easy. For that reason they are often not performed.
