Western religious music from different centuries. This episode is dedicated to Giacomo Carissimi, who worked in Rome all his life. This programme features three of his oratorios.
Giacomo Carissimi is one of the founding fathers of oratorios. Young musicians and composers from all over Europe came to Rome to learn from him. Marc-Antoine Charpentier is one of the composers who he strongly influenced.
