Laurie Spiegel.
Laurie Spiegel, pioneer in the electronic music in the US, was away from obscurity for a little through this overview of her work from the 70s and 80s under the title ‘Obsolete Systems’. With analogous systems like the Buchla 100, tape, Echoplex and the Groove Hybrid System from Bell Lab, she made intriguing and hypnotising pieces that expressed the unique character of each instrument. ‘Obsolete Systems’ is about these instruments that raised amazement and confusion in the time of their introductions.
