The piano machine called McCoy Tyner (1938 – 2020)
Tonight, we pay tribute to pianist McCoy Tyner, born in 1938 and passed away in 2020. He rose to fame as a member of the John Coltrane Quartet between 1960 and 1965, and later as a solo artist. Tyner rarely used electronic keyboards or synthesizers in his work and is one of the most influential pianists in the history of modern jazz. Tonight, we focus on the period from the late 1960s to the late 1970s, during which Tyner released an incredible number of high-quality albums on both Blue Note and Milestone labels.
