Today we will once again focus on Lex van Delden and Hendrik Andriessen’s quartets, as well as a piece by Louis Andriessen. Lex van Delden’s string quartet no. 2 is an adaptation of his eight symphony for strings. The two quartets by Hendrik Andriessen are late works, one somewhat enigmatic and the other a reflection on the 18th century. In ‘Miserere’, Louis Andriessen also looks back to the past, specifically to the eponymous work by 17th-century composer Gregorio Allegri.
